My 10 day journey to recovery after having my tonsils taken out.
In all actuality- Day one was not that bad. I drank broth all day and had a few noodles and cooked carrots with it. I wasn't in that much pain, but taking any pills was a pain! I was given amoxicillan, celebrex and a prescription for pain.Day two- really not that bad either. I had prepared myself for the worst, but really it wasn't that bad. I slept a lot, ate some ice cream, Popsicles and more chicken noodle soup. Swallowing and talking was quite painful still. My over all pain was ok. Day Three. Things are still mostly ok. But I am getting an itch to clean and work a little. I was eating more things my now, but it still was hurting so bad to swallow and talk.
Day four. Yikes. This was starting to hurt. I didn't talk much today. I ate many small meals a day and drank a lot of water- only out of necessity. It hurt pretty bad.
Day five. Lots of pain. I stayed on top of my pain meds, which made me sleep a lot. My ears hurt a lot. Everything I did seemed to hurt my throat. Day five to day seven were my peak days for pain and discomfort. Day six. Sorry the pictures were blurry, opening my mouth this wide is really painful and my camera is new and complicated and I was NOT in the mood to keep trying to get a good shot. My ears hurt a ton. Morning is definitely the worst for pain. My ears hurt the worst and my throat doesn't feel much better. I still tried to do things around the house, but not much got done. I have cabin fever, but I get car sick. It was nice to some fresh air outside. Some of the scabbing came off on my right side. The right ear was in a lot more pain. I didn't pick at the scabs, they seemed to just come off when I ate or drank. The left side felt a little clogged, but no pain from it. I ate pizza today!!! REAL good food!!!!
Looking good right?! Sorry about all the spit bubbles. You can't really slurp them outta there :) I gargled and gargled, but to no avail. Beyond that, I thought things on this side were lookin' good!
But this on the other hand. Yuck! I called the doctors office and they said by two weeks it will be all cleared out. The left ear still felt way better than the right. I was in a little discomfort and only took a half a pain pill three times this day and actually the day previous also.
Day eight! Things were feeling good and looking so good! I took only one Tylenol this day and it was the last pill I would need for pain. I was talking fine. By the end of the day my throat and voice was really tired. I did feel a little tear on my left while eating a fresh baked roll, of all things. It hurt the rest of the meal and into the night. You can kind of see it at the top of the back of my mouth, at the base of the shadow.

Day nine- still great! I had a little discomfort, but nothing bad. I am talking good- still not singing! Eating and drinking still caused discomfort- over all I am feeling great!
Well on my way to recovery :) Things just get better everyday! Nothing tastes great yet, sneezing and yawning hurt more than whiplash! But over all, I am doing good!
